Website visits & language preferences
The site uses no advertising trackers or third-party analytics scripts. Servers may retain ordinary access logs. IP-based language selection uses a local location database without sending your IP to a third-party lookup service; the language endpoint has no access logging. Manual language preferences are stored in your browser and can be cleared by choosing Auto.
Data handling shared by the three Knows extensions
Accounts: when you register and sign in, we store your email address or account name and a salted hash of your password, never the plaintext password. Email is used for verification and password recovery, and our mail service processes the recipient address and verification codes. Each extension has its own account. The browser stores a guest credential and recent record indexes; hardware fingerprints and IP addresses are not used to merge identities. After you sign in, guest records can move into your account for cross-device access.
Videos and content: when you translate, summarize, analyze or ask a question, the extension sends the video ID, title, link, the subtitles needed and necessary video information to our servers. The servers store tasks, subtitles, results, your questions and conversations, notes, and any messages you submit through “Contact us” in the extension. Extensions do not read or upload video-platform login cookies.
AI providers and personal Keys: to process a request, our servers send the necessary subtitles, video information, questions and conversation to the AI provider you choose, which handles them under its own data policy. Your personal Key is stored locally in your browser and is not synced with your account. With each request it is sent to our servers over HTTPS, used only in memory and never saved to databases, task records or logs. You can remove it in settings at any time.
Orders: when you buy a plan in the extension, we store the order details (account, plan, duration, amount, credit, order number, status and payment time). When you pay with WeChat Pay, WeChat Pay processes the payment and we store the WeChat Pay transaction number. When you pay with PayPal in US dollars, PayPal processes the payment and we store the PayPal order and transaction numbers; PayPal handles your PayPal account and payment details. We never receive bank card details, WeChat or PayPal account details, or payment passwords.
Third parties and retention: besides the AI provider you choose, Knows for YouTube fetches public subtitles from transcriptapi.com (sending only the video ID) when our servers cannot read them directly, WeChat Pay and PayPal process the payments made with them (the order number, amount and product description are sent to PayPal, which handles payment details under its own privacy statement). We do not sell personal information and use no advertising trackers or third-party analytics. Records are kept with your account by default, and authorized administrators can view business records to provide the service and handle messages and orders. Deleting a record in the extension is a logical deletion: it is hidden from you but stays in restricted storage. To have data permanently deleted, make a request as described under “Access, correct and delete your data” below.
Video Downloader
The downloader processes submitted links, notes, required passwords or platform cookies, and stores tasks and downloaded files on the server without automatic cleanup at present. Site cookies identify record ownership. YouTube login cookies can be saved to your personal session or used only for the current task, depending on your action. Remove saved sessions in the tool's session manager. Do not submit credentials you are not entitled to use.
Knows for YouTube
On a YouTube video page, the video ID and accessible original subtitles of the public video are saved in a shared subtitle library for reuse by other users; translations, summaries and analyses generated by the default service from public subtitles may also be reused for the same video. Shared content contains no identity information. If our servers cannot read the subtitles directly, they fetch the public subtitles from transcriptapi.com by video ID. Your imported text, questions, visual summaries, results generated with your own Key and notes are not shared. When you use visual summary, the extension captures the necessary frames of the current video, uploads them to our servers and sends them to the AI provider you choose; results are kept only in your records and temporary images are deleted after processing. The browser keeps indexes for the most recent 50 videos.
Knows for TikTok
Starting a task sends the necessary subtitles and video information. If a video has no subtitles, our servers temporarily download the public media and transcribe it privately on our own servers; the AI provider receives transcript text, not audio or video. Temporary audio and video are deleted when the task ends, fails or is cancelled; transcripts and business records remain. Transcription caches are isolated by account or guest identity.
Knows for Douyin
When you start processing, our servers may temporarily download Douyin media and extract the audio for the operator's private speech transcription service; it is not sent to a third-party speech recognition service, and Douyin login cookies are not uploaded. Original media and audio are deleted after completion, failure, timeout or cancellation; transcripts and business records remain.
Access, correct and delete your data
To access, correct or delete your data, email support@amusement.info or submit a request through “Contact us” in the extension. Tell us which extension and account (email or account name) the request concerns. Do not send passwords, personal Keys or full payment details.
To protect your data, we first verify that the account is yours (for example, through the account's email address or a request submitted from the signed-in extension), then handle the request and reply within 30 days of verification.
Everyday deletion in the extensions is logical: records are hidden from you but kept in restricted storage. After a verified request to delete your account, we delete or anonymize your account and related personal records (tasks, questions and conversations, notes, messages, order contact details and so on) within 30 days and no longer use them. Order transaction records that the law requires us to keep are retained only for the required period and purpose. Public video subtitles in the shared library contain no personal identity information and remain.
Managing data & getting in touch
Remove personal Keys in extension settings and manage records and sessions using existing controls. Clearing browser data only removes local data; it does not erase server records.
